Alabama Horse Fair
Record crowds attended the 2005 event.
 


The 2005 Alabama Horse Council's Horse Fair, held January 22-23 at the Garrett Coliseum and Agricultural Center, Montgomery, Alabama, attracted nearly 7,000 spectators.

Mack Bohn, Tommie Turvery, Jr., Tommy Garland, Bobby Richards, Jr., Phillip Bowles and Donna Mae West provided quality horse education.

A fun Kids’ Corner helped entertained the horse-crazy youth with face-painting and other activities.

The Saturday night show, “Equine Extravaganza,” featured Tommie Turvey, Jr. with his horse, Poker Joe, plus his two black and white paints, which he Roman rides and performs trick roping. Other entertainment was provided by The Gesell Trick Riders, Olympic three-day-Eventing rider Imtiaz Anees, the lighted Friesians and an Icelandic drill team. Alabama 4-H State Champions and high-point winners were also given ribbons and recognition.

The popular Ranch Rodeo Competition, featuring top Alabama ranches, was held Sunday afternoon in Garrett Coliseum. Trophies were given to the winners, and they must defend that trophy at next year’s event.
